Sunny Lane appeared on ABC's Prime Time Live last night and not only showcased her talents, but showed that adult performers are no different than anyone else pursuing an entertainment career. However, the God Squad religious nuts are up in arms over her appearance on the show and the fact that her parents assist her in every capacity possible with promoting herself. I do not believe that there is anything wrong with parents (in Sunny's case parents who have a great relationship with her and each other) helping their child reach for the stars. The Lane's are doing a much better job of guiding their daughter's career as opposed to Britney's mother, Lynne Spears. Sunny is drug and tattoo free, in addition to having clear skin, beautiful hair, and no kids with a bum who left his pregnant girlfriend for her. There are also mainsream people guilty of negatively judging Sunny and her parents and I seriously suggest they look at their mainstream media darling, Britney Spears, and see how she measures up to Sunny. Britney is on her third rehab stint (I have heard rumor that Britney spent some time in rehab during 2002, but that it was kept quiet.), while Sunny has never ever been involved with drugs.
And as I mentioned before, look at Britney's love life, which has spawned two unfortunate baby boys and a pile of alimony for someone she was only married to briefly. I'm sure that Britney wishes the past few years of her life were just makebelieve and that she could walk away from Kevin and the two babies she can't even raise properly when the cameras shut off.
Sunny Lane has it all. The love and support of her family, a good job, a promising career, awards, tv appearances, and even more fame and fortune to come. Sunny keep doing what you are doing, it is important that people see a positive porn role model in the public eye!
As for Sophia Lynn, it sounds as if her life were already in crisis prior to her entry into porn. The special mentioned that she had several drug arrests (meth) in her native Florida and was also in the midst of splitting up from her husband (plus there were custody issues as well). Did porn cause those problems? No. Did Sophia Lynn cause those problems? Yes.
Granted, not everyone in porn is an angel. Katie Morgan has freely admitted that she was still in the midst of legal drama stemming from marijuana smuggling when she began her career in adult. However, she took care of those matters and has enjoyed several successful careers in the industry. Last year, she was the sole subject of an HBO special.
The media has a distinctly biased agenda when it comes to porn. They take an already troubled person like Sophia Lynn and say,'Look at what porn did to her.'
They are not going to say the truth, which is ,'Some performers thrive in the adult industry, while others are not mature enough to balance their careers and personal life.'
To me, that was the true gist of last night's show. One performer, Sunny Lane, was giving her career a 150% effort, while another, gifted with a high dollar contract from an established and well known company within weeks of landing in porn valley, managed her career poorly (did not eat properly and gave some lackluster onscreen performances) and allowed personal drama to derail her promising career.
Finally, will we be seeing another porn special on Prime Time Live despite all the current drama? I believe so. Prime Time Live won their time slot last night. Its all about ratings folks, not the truth.
